The Cheeks: Rosy Apples of Joy

Once you've applied your foundation, you can give your face a bit of colour. This is done by applying blusher or bronzer on the apples of your cheeks, (that's the round bit of your cheeks which stick out when you smile). A light dusting can also be applied on the T-zone which is across your forehead and down your nose (forming a T shape, hence the name!)

Blusher

Blusher is used to recreate the effect of blushing, when cheeks turn red. This is because blushing is often due to arousal and desire. Blusher is also great for giving the illusion of a healthy glow, especially useful if your skin is tired, or a bit washed out. Blusher comes in various shades of pink. Lighter shades are good for younger skin or daytime. Slightly darker shades are good for the evening, or to give a more dramatic look. Blusher comes in powder form (applied with a blusher brush), blusher cream, liquid or gel. Find the form best suited to your skin type. Whatever blusher you go for, remember to Blend Your Blusher!!! It should look natural, not like makeup but like a natural healthy glow. Put on a little at a time and add more if needed.

Bronzer

Now and then you may want to use bronzer, as well as (or instead of) blusher. Bronzer has a similar goal as blusher- to create a healthy looking glow. However, bronzer also creates the illusion that you are sun-kissed. Bronzer comes in powder, cream and gel forms and also different hues including gold, bronze, copper, glittery! Bronzer has the same rules as blusher- Blend Your Bronzer! You don't want to look orange, only sun-kissed. And don't wear bronzer in winter unless you have recently been to the Caribbean and are prolonging your tan!!!
